Тема: «A Sea Voyage»
Цели: активизация и совершенствование коммуникативных умений обучающихся по английскому языку.
Задачи:
1) Совершенствовать навыки изучающего чтения и контроль понимания прочитанного.
2) Развивать способности логического изложения мыслей.
3) Воспитывать у учащихся чувство сопереживания.
Материал: учебник английского языка «Enjoy English 9» под редакцией Биболетовой М.З.
Оборудование: ЭОР (электронно-образовательные ресурсы: презентация), ИКТ (информационно-компьютерные технологии: ноутбук, проектор)
Ход урока
I Начало урока
1. Приветствие
- Good morning, boys and girls. Glad to see you. Take your seats, please.
2. Речевая зарядка
- So at the previous lessons of English we’ve been speaking about travelling.
I want you to name the means of transport which you can use for travelling. Let’s do it in a chain.
- People can travel by train, car, plane, ship or on foot.
- Ok, good. Thank you.
I’m also interested in one question.
Who has ever travelled by ship?
Why is it considered to be interesting?
Some advantages are given here. Choose any of them.
3. Сообщение задач урока
- So today we’ll speak about travelling by ship.
Pay attention, please. When we speak about travelling by water we call it a cruise.
And travelling by sea is called a sea voyage.
II Центральная часть
1. Развитие навыков выражения собственных мыслей
- Look at the screen, please.
The Polish novelist Joseph Conrad said: “The sea isn’t always friendly to a man”.
How can you translate it?
To my mind, a sea voyage is the most romantic way of travelling, but travelers can face a lot of dangers.
Do you agree with me?
- Now you are to select the possible dangers people face at sea.
But first let’s remember the pronunciation and translation of these words.
An earthquake – землетрясение
A flood - наводнение
A hurricane - ураган
A fire - пожар
A drought - засуха
A tornado - торнадо
A car accident - авария
A volcano eruption – извержение вулкана
A plane crash – крушение самолета
A bird crash – столкновение птиц
A ship crash – крушение корабля
An iceberg crash – столкновение с айсбергом
Thunder and lightning – гром и молния
A violent wind and storm – сильный ветер и шторм
- Now complete the sentence: “Travelers can face …”

- Now you see that travelling by ship can be dangerous too.
What shipwrecks do you know, by the way?
Now let’s gat acquainted with top 5 famous shipwrecks:
5) Costa Concordia sank in 2012 off the Italian coast
4) Lusitania sank in 1915 off the coast of Ireland
3) Britannic sank in 1916 in the Aegean Sea
2) Carpathia sank in 1918 off the east coast of Ireland
1) Titanic sank in 1912 in the Atlantic Ocean
3. Совершенствование навыков устной речи
- As you see the most terrible shipwreck is the tragedy of Titanic, which happened 100 years ago. There are several screened versions of it. But the most popular film is the film produced in 1997.
Have you seen it?
Answer the following questions, please.
1) What country was the film shot in?
2) Who is the director of the film?
3) Name the starring actors, which played the role of Rose and Jack.
4) What awards did the film received?
- Now fill in the gaps and speak out about the film and your impressions.
4. Формирование навыков чтения
- Find ex. 22 on p. 67. Read the task. Read the text to yourselves. And arrange the extracts in the right order to match the story.

1. Постановка домашнего задания
- The lesson is coming to its end. Open your diaries and write down the home task: ex. 22 p. 67 (to retell the text).
